Creative Thread Arts & Upholstery opened its doors in 1994 and since that time has gone through several metamorphoses.  When I first began,  I was concentrating  on upholstery of boats, classic cars, small home dec items: pillows, cushions, ottomans and the like along with custom fit slip covers.  Also available were custom made leather items such as mittens, jackets, clothing items, gun cases…you get the idea.

     This shop evolved from the above items into exclusively home dec items in the fall of 2000.  Now the product line offered is focused not only on recovering existing pieces but it still concentrates on new and custom made fabrications such as bay window seat cushions, new cushions of any type and size, reworking of old pieces and of course I still love doing custom fit slip covers.

     Creative Thread Arts & Upholstery offers a full line of every type, density and quality of foams available, a well as fabrics, leathers, decorative trims, custom fabricated down and feather items, etc.  All of these items and more that are not available on the site yet will be soon.  If you can't wait, please email and I will work with you that way.

     Some of you that visit my site may be wondering what upholstery has to do with selling ready made items.
     Well, allow me to elaborate. My mother was an interior designer. Self employed for many of those years herself. I have been around the design profession since I was about knee high to a grasshopper. (I was young!) Then there is a stepdad of 20 + years who is an alumnus of Taliesin and also self employed for years, it's pretty natural I would use my right brain for similar interests. I chose upholstery over design simply because I love to work with my hands.

My clientele ranges from interior designers to private retail clients.  Occassional invitations do come in to do custom  work other than upholstery and related  things but I choose these very selectively.
